Virgin Records is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year with a series of gigs.
Launched by Richard Branson in 1973, the British record label has been home to some of the biggest artists of the past four decades.
The label’s roster boasts names including Mike Oldfield, Sex Pistols, Boy George, Human League, Simple Minds, Soul II Soul, Massive Attack, Neneh Cherry, Spice Girls,The Verve, Chemical Brothers, N.E.R.D, Daft Punk and more recently Swedish House Mafia, Bastille, Laura Marling and Emeli Sandé.
To celebrate the landmark year, a series of live shows will take place from mid-October to mid-November across London venues.
The confirmed line-up so far is as follows:
October 3 - Laura Marling at York Hall, Bethnal Green
October 17 - Chvrches at Shepherds Bush Empire
October 21 - Public Image Limited at Shepherds Bush Empire
October 24 - Jake Bugg at Brixton Academy
November 4 - Emeli Sande, Professor Green and Naughty Boy at Koko
November 5 - Bastille and Josh Record at Koko
November 7 - Simple Minds at Koko
November 10 - Boy George at Koko
November 11 - Martyn Ware presents Heaven 17 + guests at Koko
November 12 - Jazzie B presents Soul II Soul (full live set) at Koko
In tandem with the shows the Virgin 40 Exhibition will launch on October 24 at a venue on Southampton Row WC1.
The exhibition will include photos (seen and unseen), seminal videos and memorabilia that capture collaborations between cultural icons
