1971 UK first issue 5-track stereo LP on the tan-on-white Deram label, the band's third and arguably most well-known album, considered a classic by fans and critics alike, [the album recently received a remastering overhaul by Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson]. The laminated grey & pink gatefold sleeve features cover art by Anne Marie Anderson, & shows very little of its age whilst the vinyl looks barely played. Overall a superb copy 40 years on!

Rare 1971 UK 10-track limited edition vinyl LP, complete with illustrated narrative inner, fold around gatefold picture sleeve, in a superb stencil printed clear PVC outer. The PVC sleeve has only a small split on the opening edge, the fold around sleeve is strictly graded EX-, with only a few minor creases. The vinyl is EX-/EX with just a few surface marks which do not affect play, this was play tested and does still sound superb. A very respectable copy of the over 40 year old album.

Super rare 2007 Japanese Sony BMG label 2-track promotional only CD-R, also including Back In Black, issued to publicise the release of the 'paper sleeve' CD editions of the band's classic album back catalogue, custom printed disc housed in a DVD case with 10" x 7" sticker inlay showing the artwork for all 17 titles including detailed band history in Japanese on the reverse - nice!

The sleeve has a light spot of foxing inside but is otherwise in excellent condition with a perfectly legible spine & unblemished print. The vinyl is clean & reveals light signs of play only - a great chance to secure a nice copy of this hard to find gem!

 

PETER CULTURE Pressure Man

Very rare 1986 UK 10-track LP, a fantastic early digital dancehall/reggae album straight out of the UK, which has recently picked up on the collector's scene in the last couple of years, as it includes standout tunes like 'Behold', 'Dance Hall Music' and the title track, and is housed in one of the coolest picture sleeves of the era (dig that sky blue jacket!). This is the ultimate copy to get as it remains sealed from purchase, with the original price sticker intact beneath the shrink, the vinyl mint and unplayed. Essential!

Rare 2008 Japanese only Warner Bros label 1-track promotional only CD issued to publicise the use of the track as the title music to the weekly Japanese television show 'Change'. It’s not only you: there are 37 locations set for the chop. Elton John will be performing at stores up and down the country in an attempt to support the ailing chain; the Shop Assistants might be more appropriate… if only there was a safety net for the people being put out of work. There’s debate on HMV’s fate in RC’s letters page and you can expect more to come. The record shops are still out there, but online; you might have more choice on eBay or Amazon, you might be lucky enough to have a record fair on your doorstep, but nothing beats going through the racks and knowledgeable staff who know what you like. While we’re on the subject of redundancy, I was somewhat alarmed to see that the old are now in the way, according to BBC Breakfast yesterday. It seems that old people are hogging all the jobs that rightfully belong to young folk. I am not officially old, quite, but it seems to me that bunging old people out of work means that the young will only have to support them; better to get the old to pay their own national insurance, and actually try to create proper jobs for the kids, I’d have thought. It’s like 1977 all over again: remember the punk wars, when the old who liked prog and glam and metal were “in the way”? That’s where we are today, except that instead of being part of musical hype, it’s now a matter for political debate. Pathetic. Rare 1970 UK first issue 7-track Harvest label LP with 'Gramophone Co' label text, textured gatefold picture sleeve with the Harvest label inner paper sleeve. The sleeve is strictly graded VG/VG+, withsome minor shelfwear and a minor sticker tear mark on the front. The vinyl remains a beautiful EX+ with only a few surface marks. A very respectable copy.

 

QUEEN Long Away

Rare 1976 US-only Elektra 'Butterfly' label wide centre 7" single, also including You And I, Elektra company die-cut paper sleeve. The vinyl has only a couple of light surface marks which has no effect on play. Fantastic copy ofthis hard to find single.

1963 UK first issue 13-track mono LP on the RCA Victor black 'silver spot' label, featuring music from the soundtrack to the film, front laminated flipback picture sleeve. The sleeve reveals just the lightest signs of creasing to the laminate & is otherwise in excellent condition. The vinyl shows only minor signs of play, with just one or two light scuffs not deep enough to have any effect - an excellent copy!

 

AEROSMITH Legendary Child

Official 2012 Japanese Sony Music Japan label 1-track promotional only CD-R for the download only single taken from the fifteenth studio album, 'Music from Another Dimension!', intended to have a video produced using footage taken from the 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' movie but due to the release being pushed back a year the video never happened. Custom printed disc with title/tracklisting details and custom picture insert with release details plus G.I. Joe image, all text in Japanese.

1976 UK first issue 9-track LP with 'Titch And Quackers' & 'Manchester United' matrix etchings, the classic sixth album and arguably one of the band's finest, featuring two of their biggest hits - The Boys Are Back In Town and the renowned title track - plus other gems including Angel From The Coast and the mighty live concert favourite Emerald. Housed in a now iconic 'Super De Luxe' die-cut internal pocket gatefold picture sleeve printed by Howards Printers [Slough] Ltd. England. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear & the vinyl remains in excellent condition, showing few signs of its thirty five years - A great example of this classic original, now very hard to find!

Very first pressing 1970 UK 8-track LP on the Vertigo label with large 'swirl' logo, housed in a matt gatefold picture sleeve complete with poly 'swirl' inner. The sleeve shows barely any signs of edge wear & just the lightest few storage marks are visible to the keen eye, otherwise a beautiful example. The labels reveal just a few spindle marks to indicate play but otherwise the wax is incredibly clean & easily meets a healthy EX grading. A must!

 

TYRANNOSAURUS REX My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair...But Now They're Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows

Rare 1968 UK debut 12-track stereo LP on the red & silver Regal Zonophone label, housed in a front laminated flipback sleeve with superb psychedelic artwork, pinched spine & lyric insert. The sleeve remains in superb condition - the laminate is bright and clean, the edges are in great shape with minimal scuffing, the flipbacks secure & the spine retains its shape with clearly legible print. The labels reveal only the faintest few spindle marks to indicate play, otherwise the vinyl looks clean & barely played - a staggering copy!

 

JIMI HENDRIX Smash Hits

1968 UK 12-track stereo LP, featuring the classic tracks Purple Haze, Fire, Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary & more, front laminated picture sleeve. The sleeve has creasing to the laminate yet the print on the back is still off-white & the spine perfectly legible. The vinyl reveals just a couple of light surface scuffs but these are not deep enough to affect play, otherwise an excellent copy!

Friday's Top Three! Stop The Press: We Have A Stunning George Harrison Autograph, A Top Queen Pressing And A Police Fan Club Magazine Bundle!

GEORGE HARRISON Mounted Autograph With Period Picture

This is just a very lovely thing. I am in awe. Nicely nestled in a 16" x 14" mount, there is a very early signature of Mr Harrison that was written very clearly on the page of an autograph book, way back when. Judging by the unhurried nature of the autograph, this was obviously not obtained during a frenzied post gig Beatlemania crush, but my suspicion would be that it would have been obtained at some point during their August '63 British Tour, just before 'She Loves You' set the world alight. This has been mounted next to a 7" x 10" black & white picture of George sporting a natty late '63 haircut, so the picture does actually feature an image of George that was taken at a similar time to that when the autograph was obtained. This, I have to say, is a thing of great beauty ....

 

QUEEN Jazz

1978 UK 13-track LP with 1U matrices, the seventh studio album by British rock group produced by Roy Thomas Baker with the band, includes the singles Bicycle Race, Fat Bottomed Girls and Don't Stop Me Now. Comes in the original embossed gatefold picture sleeve with 'nude bicycle race' fold-out poster and laminated inner sleeve. The sleeve has only a few minor storage marks and the vinyl is in excellent condition with only a few light surface scuffs. A great play copy.

 

THE POLICE Official File

Rare complete set of 20 'The Police - Official File' fan club magazines numbers 1-20 dating from May 1980 - December 1981, each is A5 sized and have 32-pages featuring articles, interviews, 'Police Mail' letters page, song lyrics and lots of colour/black & white photographs - this set is in superb condition!

As a bonus this copy also comes with the alternative replacement skull/cross artwork and inner sleeve. Ideal to have both sleeve designs displayed together.

Rare official 2002 US two-disc publishing CD set to support William Orbit's publishing catalogue. For the first time ever, world-renowned virtuoso guitarist and multi-instrumentalist/composer Mike Keneally is bringing a full band from the U.S. to share his remarkably inventive musical vision in 13 cities in the U.K. and Europe this March and April, supporting his latest Exowax Recordings release, Wing Beat Fantastic: Songs written by Mike Keneally & Andy Partridge.

From Keneally’s well-documented recorded work as a guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist with Frank Zappa to his recordings and performances with Robert Fripp, Wayne Kramer, Steve Vai, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Andy Partridge and many others, he’s earned a reputation as someone who brings an intense, original musical voice to any and all musical happenings. Mike is also currently a touring member of Dethklok (as a guitarist) and the Joe Satriani Band (as a keyboardist). His extensive and wildly diverse original catalog of 21 albums (and counting) defies traditional classification, and concertgoers are regularly left awestruck by his band’s high-wire act execution of the eclectic material.

The Mike Keneally Band features longtime Keneally compadres Bryan Beller (The Aristocrats, Steve Vai, Dethklok) on bass, drummer Joe Travers (Duran Duran, Zappa Plays Zappa), and guitarist Rick Musallam (Ben Taylor, Cirque du Soleil).

This classic MKB lineup makes Mike very happy. "I wanted my band for this tour to be a seasoned unit that knows the material really well, so the first time we play the U.K. and Europe would be truly representative of what my music sounds like," he explains. "We'll cover a lot of ground from all of my solo albums, but we have a tendency to change things up from night to night, so anyone who would like to catch multiple shows will definitely get a different experience."

All Music Guide calls Keneally "the leading progressive rock genius of the post-Zappa era," and Time Out New York adds "this band, with such a peculiar genius leading it, is a thing to savor."

Supporting the Mike Keneally Band's first European tour will be Godsticks, an adventurous UK-based trio consisting of Darran Charles on vocals, guitar and keys, Steve Roberts on drums and keys and bassist Dan Nelson. Their new album is The Envisage Conundrum.

IRON MAIDEN The First Ten Years

Extremely rare 1990 Japanese issue 64-track 10-CD box set containing the singles that were released between 1980 and 1990. Featuring live and studio recordings including Running Free, Sanctuary, Twilight Zone and Run To The Hills. Also including a 16-page discography booklet, all housed in a superb 12" x 12" x 2" picture box which is different to the UK release, and comes with the original wraparound obi-strip. Apart from a couple of minor scuff marks on the edges/corners this box is superb, the obi has a couple of small tears and some light discolouration otherwise superb and complete, all other contents are in near mint condition. A stunning copy of this very hard to find and sought after collectable.

 

THE KINKS Kinks

Rare 1964 UK 14-track MONO vinyl LP including You Really Got Me and Stop Your Sobbing, front laminated flipback picture sleeve. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear including some edgewear and laminate creasing, but remains in excellent condition with all edges intact and secure flipbacks. The vinyl, although the spindle marks around the centre hole do indicate a deal of play, shows just a couple of light surface scuffs, even after nearly fifty years in the wild. A nice VG+/EX- copy of this rare Kinks original at a very advantageous price!

Rare 1968 UK first issue 30-track mono double LP with 'Sold In UK' label text, housed in a fully laminated & embossed top-opening individually numbered [0059971] gatefold sleeve, with fold-out lyric/poster,four individual portrait inserts & die-cut black inners. The sleeve has a light corner crease in the laminate but is otherwise in excellent condition. Both vinyl discs show some spindle marks and wear to the grooves but after a professional clean they still meet a Record Collector 'Very Good' grade and play through without fault.

 

PROCOL HARUM Procol Harum

Rare original 1967 UK 10-track debut LP in mono on the Regal Zonophone blue & silver label, laminated flipback picture sleeve.
