Yes, we'll make any excuse to go disco or take it back to the eighties here at 991 office headquarters. Not that any of us are particularly well versed in the genres of obscure boogie and modern soul records but we invite any devoted collector of the era to come check these albums out:
1988 French-only 10-track LP, the one and only album by the Cleveland soul singer, formerly of the cult funk group S.O.U.L., who passed away in January 2011 - Borderline is tipped as a great example of the modern soul/ boogie sound by collectors of the genre. What's more, this superb copy remains sealed from purchase, the vinyl mint and unplayed
1981 South African 9-track Nigerian modern soul/boogie LP, including 'Music Alone' as featured on the recent Brand New Wayo: Funk, Fast Times & Nigerian Boogie Badness compilation. The picture sleeve is signed and dedicated 'To Alan Boxer, from Martha Ulaeto' on the back in blue biro, who was the head of EMI Music International at the time and comes direct from his personal collection.
JAKKY BOY & THE BAD BUNCH I've Been Watching You
1983 Dutch 7-track vinyl LP of awesome boogie funk prime for the dancefloor on the Rams Horn label (released on Salsoul in the States). This copy remains factory sealed - how can you pass on a group called Jakky Boy & The Bad Bunch? You can't!
Scarce 1987 US 12-track LP. This copy is still factory sealed from new, the vinyl mint and unplayed - another nice one for the modern soul/ boogie funk lovers.
Also in stock, Roy Ayers (remastered), Cloud One and Rikki Patrick...
