Jean Michel Jarre wants to go back to the future. The French synthesizer maestro arrives in the UK this weekend with his 2010 tour, named to evoke the “hopes and dreams of my friend Arthur C Clarke”, author of the science-fiction classic 2001: A Space Odyssey.
“Suddenly, we are putting ourselves as the next dinosaurs. It’s rather dark; we have narrowed our dreams. It is time to restore our visions. And so it’s not a nostalgic idea; it is based with this unconscious need to restore a kind of dynamic for tomorrow.”

Good Afternoon World..
Here are todays top picks:
Rare 2001 UK 9-track Mute label advance CD-R acetate, issued exclusively to selected radio stations and reviewers. Includes the promotional-only mixes of Danny Tenaglia's Labor Of Love, Danny Tenaglia's Labor Of Love Instrumental and Umek Remix, custom printed disc & custom title/tracklisting inlay with release date printed on disc and inlay!
Original 1976 UK EMI issue 2-track 7" vinyl single, with Chris Thomas production credit on both sides. Also includes I Wanna Be Me, housed in its die-cut EMI company sleeve. The vinyl shows just a little spindle wear on the A-side [for such a defining song, we'll forgive the previous owner for giving it a few spins], but otherwise remains in excellent condition with the push-out centre intact. A great copy of this legendary Pistols rarity EMI2566.
GUIDED BY VOICES Loving Memories - Guided By Voices 1983-2004
Official 2004 US promotional only NTSC DVD featuring the introduction video that was played before the band took the stage during their 2004 Tour, made by 'Memories By Design' a company specialising in memorial video presentations for funerals! Custom printed disc and housed in a standard DVD case with a custom picture sleeve.

The 991.com founders were at the “Trevor Horn and Zang Tuum Tumb present The Buggles - The Lost Gig” last night. Trevor regrouped The Buggles and gathered some very special guests including 10cc, OMD, Claudia Brucken, Alison Moyet & Gary Barlow to perform their ground-breaking début album, The Age of Plastic in full for the first (and quite possibly only) time ever. And it was AMAZING. It reminded me again after 20+ years in this industry, that we have the most amazing jobs to be doing something we love. And there would be no 991.com without the music produced by Trevor Horn.
See http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/music/review-23883092-the-buggles-are-electro-dreamers-that-time-too-easily-forgot.do for a review.

For those that grew up on music lists, a simple Top 10 by a distinguished artist or DJ was often all it took for fanboys & girls to drop everything and go for a sprint to his or her nearest record shop or library, pre-internet.

Bruce Springsteen turns 61 today. To mark the occasion, here are 61 facts about the legendary artist.
The facts in this gallery are all taken from a recent edition of Uncut magazine devoted to Bruce Springsteen.
Springsteen has never had a No.1 single in the US, although the Manfred Mann's Earthband cover of Asbury's Park 'Blinded By The Light' hit the top spot in early 1977.
Astronauts on a 1999 voyage of space shuttle 'Discovery' were played 'Redezvous' as a wake-up call, before docking with the Hubble telescope. The Boss had a planet named after him that same year.
The first song that Springsteen learned to play on a guitar was The Beatles' version of 'Twist And Shout'. He has frequently played the song at live shows - it oftens forms part of the encore.

Radiohead fans might have to wait a little while longer to hear the band's next album after they hinted that they might not finish it.
'We've been working on material on and off for a year now,' drummer Phil Selway told The Canadian Press. 'We're basically taking stock on Monday and seeing what we need to do with the material to move it to those final stages.
'We might get back together on Monday and after discussing stuff we might just throw this all out and say maybe we need to go back to the drawing board. Who knows, as I say, it's all up in the air at the
moment.'
