Released in 2008 and produced with Danger Mouse, 'Modern Guilt' is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.
Over in Japan, the Hostess label saw fit to not only release the album with a bonus DVD featuring 6 videos, but they presented it in a beautiful gold Zucca PVC carry case, which folds out into a nylon shopping bag with full set of lyrics printed across one side! Limited to just 3000 copies, this gem is now back in stock here at 991.com, but hurry cos they won't hang about for long [these things never do...].
