BLACK EYED PEAS ‘Meet Me Halfway’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]
C5: "Pure 80s-era Madonna-inspired pop brilliance" – Observer
The force is obviously with The Black Eyed Peas. After the stratospheric 'Boom Boom Pow' blasted its way to number one in both the UK and the US, killer summer anthem 'I Gotta Feeling' followed it straight to the top once again and the band went on to set a new record on the Billboard Hot 100 by being the first group to hold the number 1 spot for a staggering 25 weeks (so far) across both singles - the mighty Peas are now just one week away from spending half a year at the top.
After the euphoric celebration of hedonism that was 'I Gotta Feeling', 'Meet Me Halfway' sees Fergie take centre stage to give her man a serious talking to as she belts out a plea for compromise. Uber-producer Will.i.am guides The Black Eyed Peas new electro-fied sound, complementing Fergie's bombastic vocals with floaty synths and a thumping bassline.
The release of Meet Me Halfway precedes Fergie's starring role in the hotly anticipated 'Nine', a feature film inspired by the life of enigmatic director Federico Fellini. Having previously featured in the Tarantino Grindhouse flick Planet Terror, Fergie now finds herself acting alongside Daniel Day Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Dame Judi Dench and Sophia Loren.

Snow Patrol are one of the biggest and boldest bands of the past decade. The Balearic beats of 'Just Say Yes' point towards a creative hot streak in progress. We've always been inspired by a love of electronic music and are obsessed with bands like LCD Soundsystem, Liquid Liquid, Vitalic and Friendly Fires – especially me and Tom as we DJ a lot – but it's never been that obvious in our music until 'Just Say Yes'."
FRANKIE GOES TO
12”: 'Relax' identifies the 80s. When Frankie Goes To Hollywood burst onto the scene, the book on remixes, extended versions and videos was re-written.
Over 1.5 million 12" vinyl records of 'Relax' were sold in 1984, and to celebrate 25 years of a band that were the biggest phenonmena of the 80s, 'Relax' has been reworked by Chicane, Jody Den Broden, Lockout and Spencer & Hill.
These remixes bring the track into the noughties without tainting the orignal energy and excitement. Chicane's remix will be equally loved by those who bought into the original and will transport many a 25-45 year old back to 1984.
FRANKIE GOES TO
CD l 2CD l DVD l 2LP: Twenty five years ago a virutally uknown band caused more controversy and discord with their debut single than any other infamous band before them. When Radio 1 DJ Mike Read banned 'Relax', no one could have possibly imagined the notoriety and fame that Frankie Goes To Hollywood would become. Or that the "Mike Read" episode was just the beginning. FGTH burst onto the music scene and became a pheonomena that no one has since matched.
The follow-up, 'Two Tribes', pushed the boundaries even further, now adding a political angle to their manifest and a video that made it onto the TV listings pages. 'The Power of Love' and 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome' enforced upon their peers that they had the songwriting and instrumental skills that had so far been eclipsed by their attitude and non conformist performances.
'Frankie Say Greatest' is the greatest of 'Greatest Hits' packages. A single and double CD package which includes the most popular remixes and rare b-sides captures the flavour and excitement this band had upon the music scene. Re-workings of classic tracks such as 'Ferry Cross The Mersey', 'Get It On' and '
