A double A sided affair from Jarvis Cocker, featuring 'Further Complications' (from the Rough Trade album of the same name) on one side and 'Girls Like It Too' on the other. Both tracks were recorded in
'Girls Like It Too's title comes from a speech made at John Peel's funeral by his brother Alan. It seems that the younger Ravenscroft asked his big brother John for some advice on how to deal with the lustful thoughts that were beginning to stir in his teenage body and John replied "Just remember: girls like it too" - a pretty good piece of sex education in anyone's language. This anecdote made a great impression on Jarvis at the time and has finally found its way into a song.
To mark the release Jarvis and the band will be occupying the Village Underground complex in Shoreditch and doing another event along the lines of their week-long residency in the Galerie Chappe in
FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS ‘I Told You I Was Freaky’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]
CD: http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488419
The second season of the Emmy-nominated comedy 'Flight Of The Conchords', following the lives of New Zealand's premiere digi-folk parodists Jemaine and Bret as they try and break New York, was transmitted on BBC 4 in the Spring of this year and will get a full terrestrial BBC broadcast later. The songs from this album were performed on this series.
While Flight Of The Conchords first hammered out their reputation from behind the relative safety of acoustic guitars, blithely billed as a 'folk comedy' act, nowadays their musical style runs rampant, unchecked. Judging from the range displayed on their sophomore album 'I Told You I Was Freaky', Flight Of The Conchords have yet to unearth a genre which can withstand their artistry. Unflinching in their lyrical stance, sophisticated with their arrangements, crafting melodies which always lodge firmly in the frontal lobe: Flight Of The Conchords have here created 13 best-selling ringtones, humbly masquerading as songs. Their rhymes are fearless, their thesauruses dog-eared. Only cool, confident specimens of manhood such as these could drop three-dollar vocabulary busters like "dungarees" and "pantaloons" while still mesmerizing the ladies with their undulating 'Sugalumps'. Vivid imagery? Check: The ardent 'Angels' should spur listeners to think twice the next time they consider catching a snowflake on their tongues. Better still, the amorous odyssey of the album's zenith, 'We're Both In Love With A Sexy Lady', unfolds before the listener's very ears in real time; Flight Of The Conchords are making history.
'I Told You I Was Freaky' is, among a great many other things, a genre-tripping tour de force and includes three songs from the second series of their popular and awardwinning HBO TV show which are otherwise as yet unreleased - 'Rambling Through The Avenues Of Time', 'Too Many Dicks (On The Dance Floor)' and 'You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute'.

'Everybody In Love,' released on November 2nd, is an anthem for all the lovers out there, with a sound that combines old-school R&B with today's hottest pop production– and it's a song that shows the foursome's fantastic vocals off perfectly. JLS will even be bringing some sun into the British autumn as the boys jetted off to
JLS, their eponymous debut album will be released a week later on 9th November. Fully aware of the fickle nature of the iTunes generation's approach to investing in albums, the four boys made sure that every one of the songs on the album could be a potential single. You can hear it in the almost Backstreet Boys-ish, classic international boyband sound of 'Close To You,' the flamenco punctuated disco-on-steroids of 'Heal This Heartbreak,' the Kanye-ish robo-skip and saucy intentions of 'Private' and the yearning melody of mid-paced winner 'Only Tonight.'

With the same passion, Rod approaches some of the greatest soul songs ever written.
Comments Rod Stewart: "This is the album I've waited my whole lifetime to record. These are the songs that I've danced to, made love to, cried to and yes, even fell on the floor to as a young man in the infancy of my career. These songs and singers were the oxygen that fuelled my passion to sing. When I was a skinny, cocky, all-mouth and trousers teenager living in
The album features two stunning superstar duets, one with Mary J. Blige joining Rod on the Stylistics' 70s hit 'You Make Me Feel Brand New' and the other with Jennifer Hudson on 'Let It Be Me,' inspired by the Jerry Butler / Betty Everett duet. In addition, soul great Smokey Robinson guests on 'Tracks of My Tears' which he made famous as a member of the Miracles who recorded that track in 1965, and musical giant Stevie Wonder accompanies Rod on harmonica on his massive 1969 hit 'My Cherie Amour.'
