INME 'Herald Moth' [Release Date 14/09/2009]
CD I Ltd CD: Up until now INME have always divided opinion. The band's 4th album, 'Herald Moth' is a record which reveals a band matured, one who've clearly shaken off the early 'emo' trappings of their 2003 debut. First single 'Single Of The Weak' is a real hybrid of sounds from early ska rhythms to + metal, 'All Terrain Vehicle' reveals Dave McPherson's vocals at the top of his game, and similarly 'The Art of Moderation' and 'Happy to Disappoint You' reflects his under rating as a guitarist for the more technical progressive side, whilst 'Nova Armada' just about encapsulates everything the band is currently about. INME originally formed as "Drowned" in 1996, but changed their name on signing with Music for Nations in 2001. After 3 singles, the debut album 'Overgrown Eden' was released January, 2003 and entered the UK album charts at #15. During 2004 they signed with V2. 'White Butterfly', was released June 2005 and featured the singles '7 Weeks', which reached #36 in the UK singles chart and 'So You Know' which reached #33. In July 2006, bassist Joe Morgan quit the band and was replaced by McPherson's brother Greg and in 2007 they went on to agree a new deal with Graphite Records for the release of 'Daydream Anonymous'; the band's most critically acclaimed album to date. In the Autumn of 2008, second guitarist Ben Konstantinovic joined. INME never limit themselves & in their 13 years of existence have constantly evolved to become the 4 man machine they are today. Their passionate and innovative attitude towards creating music has led to the creation of their proudest opus, 'Herald Moth'. Due out in August 2009 with a full campaign behind it, INME have never been hungrier.
BASEMENT JAXX 'Scars' [Release Date 21/09/2009]
CD I LP: Basement Jaxx's fifth album, 'Scars', is another masterpiece in the dance-pop spectrum. 'Scars' features a host of special guests including Yoko Ono, Sam Sparro, Santigold, Kelis and Chipmunk, and is as innovative in it's sound as it is in its vision. Their sound still remains as urgent and as impactful as ever - there's no need for Basement Jaxx to try and embrace any kind of retro outlook to their music. From the Top 20 smash hit summer anthem of 'Raindrops' featuring Felix's twisted vocals, to the string-drenched, Grime-esque title track 'Scars' and the gorgeous 'My Turn', which features Lightspeed Champion on vocals, Basement Jaxx deliver an album that outshines any dance act in the UK.
DIZZEE RASCAL 'Tongue N' Cheek' [Release Date 21/09/2009]
CD I LP: Dizzee Rascal's fourth album 'Tongue N' Cheek', features the huge Number One singles 'Dance Wiv Me' and 'Bonkers' and the soon-to-be-massive 'Holiday'. 2009 has been quite a year for Dizzee Rascal - he has scored two number one singles, each being released on his own, independent label Dirtee Stank, not to mention appearances on Newsnight where he went head-to-head with Jeremy Paxman and one of his most candid interviews ever on the Jonathan Ross show. 'Tongue N' Cheek' is undoubtedly the most upbeat album Dizzee has ever made whilst still retaining that lyrical sharpness that underlines his records. As well as the three singles it features 'Road Rage', a thumping house track and forthcoming single 'Dirtee Cash' which features a sample of the classic Stevie V tune. Shy FX, who collaborated with Dizzee on 'Maths + English', adds production duties to the carnival-esque, summertime anthem of 'Can't Tek No More' and trance superstar Tiesto has provided the beats to 'Bad Behaviour', but it's 'Chillin' Wiv Da Man Dem' which is Dizzee's biggest departure to date - a classic, smoothsounding R'n'B tune reminiscent of Tupac or Snoop Dog.
DOWNLINERS SECT 'Burning Snow' [Release Date 21/09/2009]
10" LP: A stunning live 10" by one of the most unheralded yet pioneering groups of the UK's 60's R&B explosion. Between 1964 and 1966, Downliners Sect released nine singles, two EPs and three LPs, competing for chart space with the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. In 1977, seeing the revival of R&B at the hands of pub rockers such as Dr. Feelgood and Count Bishops, the Sect realised the impact they had had on new generations and decided it was time to reform. Time stands still for people like the Sect. They have and will always be an outstanding band with a completely valid career, who have stayed well clear of the commercial treadmill and still dedicate themselves to their true love of rockin' R&B, free of all artificial sweeteners. Boombox / Penniman present 'Burning Snow', a 10" recording of a killer live show performed in March 2000 in Gavle, Sweden. On this record you'll find the Sect's own numbers [covered so many times by their numerous fans] and covers of the R&B classics which formed such a solid grounding for their later work. Rounded off with an excellent sound taking in everything which real R&B should be, 'Burning Snow' is a clear example of what young wild music continues to represent. And this from a bunch of "gentlemen" in their fifties. Great sleeve plus liner notes by Mike Stax - leading light of the awesome Ugly Things magazine and world's leading expert on all things Sect.

GARY NUMAN 'The Pleasure Principle - 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition' [Release Date 21/09/2009]
2CD: Beggars Archive present the 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Gary Numan's seminal debut album; a 2CD featuring remastered demos and out-takes along with extensive sleevenotes. Gary Numan's solo debut album, 'The Pleasure Principle' was the point where the singer became a huge international solo star, even reaching the Top 10 in the United States with 'Cars' and Top 20 with the album. 'The Pleasure Principle' pioneered electronic pop music on a new scale - it was a much bigger success worldwide than Kraftwerk's releases or anything from the influential but still relatively 'culty' Bowie / Eno Berlin trilogy. And the fact that it was different and had a major impact in America - Numan performed 'Cars' and 'Praying To The Aliens' in front of 40 million people on the Saturday Night Live Show - means that there's a direct link from 'The Pleasure Principle' to the new musical forms that were born in the USA over the next decade - namely hip hop, industrial and techno. As the NME noted recently, "every hip-hop production titan ever - notably Dr Dre - has nicked the opening beats from the track 'Films'". The likes of Timbaland and The Neptunes' minimal pop - comprised of just exquisitely produced drums and simplistic synthlines - are heralded as being futuristic genius in the 21st century; 'The Pleasure Principle' shows that Gary Numan was doing the same thing 25 years previously. His influence on hip-hop, while rarely recognised, is enormous. His influence on electronic music in general is unparalleled.' When GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan covered 'Films' in 2008, he really was taking hip hop back to its roots as the track features one of the original break beats [in fact, 'Films' appeared on the hugely influential Ultimate Breaks & Beats compilation series in the early 1980s]. In industrial music both Trent Reznor [Nine Inch Nails] and Marilyn Manson have name checked Numan as a significant source of inspiration. While techno pioneers ranging from Carl Craig to Juan Atkins were grabbed by this strange, futuristic music, creating a relationship between Numan and dance music that has spawned the likes of the Basement Jaxx's 'Where's Your Head At' [samples 'M.E.' from 'The Pleasure Principle'] and the 'Cars'-mutating 'Koochy' by Armand Van Helden.

MONSTERS OF FOLK 'Monsters Of Folk' [Release Date 21/09/2009]
CD I LP: Monsters Of Folk - comprised of Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket's Jim James & singer / songwriter M. Ward - release their first collaborative album. Although these critically acclaimed artists have shared the stage before, this album marks their first recorded output as a band. Monsters Of Folk began as folklore of sorts, when Jim James, Conor Oberst, M. Ward and Mike Mogis did their first run of shows together in 2004. Like the musical revue shows that went town to town when rock 'n' roll was newly born, the tour was called 'An Evening With: Bright Eyes, Jim James & M. Ward', although amongst friends and crew it became affectionately known as the 'Monsters Of Folk Tour'. While entertaining audiences coast to coast with gorgeous acoustic melodies and world weary tales, the foursome vowed to make their way to a studio at some point after the tour's completion. Instead, the songsmiths went on to individually release some of rock music's most exciting and essential albums of the last five years - Bright Eyes' 'I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning' and 'Cassadaga'; My Morning Jacket's 'Z' and 'Evil Urges'; M. Ward's 'Post War' and 'Hold Time'. Never ones to forget their promise, when downtime presented itself, they convened in the studio multiple times over two years, with Mike Mogis at the helm of their first recorded effort. The result is as stunning and storied as you would expect it to be. All four members play every instrument on the album, supplying everything from drum kills to cascading backing vocals. The songs - some road-worn fables, some intimate and intricate with electronic elements, some woozy and sun-soaked - are everything one expects from these four musical minds collaborating together. The album exudes a warm, organic spaciousness, filled by brilliant choruses, intoxicating harmonies and effortless melodies, as each member brings his own strengths to the table to create one perfect whole.
