BAD LIEUTENANT 'Never Cry Another Tear' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
Bad Lieutenant formed in 2007 with New Order's Bernard Sumner [guitar and vocals] alongside Phil Cunningham [guitar] and Jake Evans [guitar and vocals]. We can now confirm that they have completed their long awaited debut LP 'Never Cry Another Tear' which is set for worldwide release on 12th October 2009 on Triple Echo Records. The album features sounds that have helped make New Order such a treasured, innovative force over the past three decades, but also featured is a brand new voice from exotic Macclesfield, Jake Evans. The new album centres around crisp, streamlined, 21st century guitar music - underscored by keyboards and occasional melodica. The record includes Sumner's seemingly effortless melodic invention, but now these familiar joys blend with vocals and the talented guitar work of Jake Evans. "This album is very important to me," says Bernard. "We've worked hard on it and I'm proud of it. It's also important because it gives people the chance to hear a gifted new singer and guitar player who I think is really talented." Together, the band have spent over a year writing, recording and mixing the album near Manchester, which features additional musicians including Alex James [Blur] and Stephen Morris [New Order and Joy Division] on several recordings. The live band will include Stephen Morris on drums and Tom Chapman on bass as well as Matt Evans [Rambo & Leroy] contributing to drums and backing vocals on the record. "There is some continuity to the music I've made in the past," says Bernard. "But this is very different - because different people are playing on it. This is just how I now want to make music - it feels right to me and I hope at least a few other people feel the same."

CHAD SMITH'S BOMBASTIC MEATBATS 'Meet The Meatbats' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
Chad Smith is the powerhouse behind the world-famous Red Hot Chili Peppers and the super group Chickenfoot. Chad pulls off effortlessly one of the most difficult challenges facing drummers - the ability to blend high powered rock with blistering funk grooves. With a personality as big as his drum sound, Chad remains a firm favourite with drummers all over the world. Born in 1961 and grown up in Michigan, Chad became a much sought-after drummer in the late 70's very quickly and played in different band-projects. In 1989 he joined Red Hot Chili Peppers for their legendary album 'Mother's Milk'. By recording 'Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik' with top-producer Rick Rubin in the early 90's, he influenced the modern sound of American Rock like no other: Snappy rimshots, heavy kickdrums and incredibly funky arranged rhythms are his undisputed trademarks to this very day. Chad Smith is therefore the unchallenged master of Funk-Rock on the drums. Since 2008, his involvement in Chickenfoot [Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony] gives further proof of his outstanding variety and reputation. In his new project [Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats], Chad is surrounded by talented musicians once again - guitar star Jeff Kollman, multi-faceted keyboardist Ed Roth and Motor City bass ace Kevin Chown. Together, they comprise what is easily one of the most interesting and unpredictable instrumental bands to come along in years; Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats. Bombastic, funky, sexy and loud - that's the sound of the latest album of the drum hero Chad Smith, who is this time around surrounded by "The Meatbats". 'Meet The Meatbats' speaks for itself. Consisting of 10 tunes written in the span of a few days at Chad's pool house in Malibu. Tracks including 'Need Strange', 'Oops! I Spilled My Beer', 'Battle For Ventura Blvd.', and the hauntingly beautiful 'Night Sweats', exude a live wire feel, sarcasm, and excitement rarely found in the current world of digitally induced "perfection". It is instrumental music with a soul and a sense of humour. The Meatbats' sound creates a cutting edge sonic experience with a plethora of influences, fusing together styles as diverse as Classic Rock, Old School Funk, Punk, and 70's R&B.
STEVE MORSE BAND 'Out Standing In The Their Field' [Release Date 12/10/2009]

'Out Standing In Their Field' is the 12th Steve Morse Band record. It combines Rock, Country, Jazz, Funk and Classic elements and reaches an unbelievable sound spectrum. This entirely instrumental album clearly reflects the remarkable talent of Steve Morse and distinguishes the influences of the artist's musical history. On top of the fantastic 10 brand new songs, there is a special bonus track: the live recording of 'Rising Power' mirrors the unique goosebumps feeling you get when attending a live concert. On the strength of Steve Morse's fascinating guitar riffs there is no space of thinking of lead vocals missing. Based on his fabulous guitar playing, which is light years ahead of many other so called guitar heroes, the album satisfies the listener in every aspect. Bill Milkowski: "...he is first and foremost regarded in industry circles as a musicians musician; the premier player of instrumental rock after Jeff Beck."

CATE LE BON 'Me Oh My' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
Following hot on the reels of a sell-out Cassette only print, Irony Bored are pleased to announce the release of Cate Le Bon's mesmerizing debut album 'Me Oh My'. A new force in song-craft, Le Bon first gained public attention when she supported Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals on his 2007 solo tour. She also appeared as a guest vocalist on Neon Neon's 2008 single, 'I Lust U'. As befits a songwriter who only writes in the dark, the album is a heady and highly personal Gallic stew of equal parts Nico, Bobbie Gentry, Stephen Malkmus, and the chronicler's own emotional observations on the impossibility of existence. Artfully composed with a classic five a side formation, this lovingly constructed album boasts a concise palette of instrumentation played live by Cate and a fluid band of close friends. Perfectly illuminating both her writing skills and haunting vocals with understated menace and beauty. Irony Bored is a new label owned and run by Gruff Rhys. The name was originally a slightly suspect pun written in blood on a discarded ironing board back in 1993 by Gruff as a simple manifesto for the fledgling Super Furry Animals. Having been mistaken for a work of art the ironing board was initially stolen from a recording studio and later shown at an art gallery only then to be presumed to be a load of rubbish by a janitor and taken to a Cardiff debris site. The board itself may be long gone but its eventful life and boundary melting sense of adventure has now been harnessed as a recording label - Irony Bored. 'Me Oh My' is complimented with artwork by existential DJ Huw Evans and accompanied by a Thriller-style short film by the visionary artist Casey Raymond, created for the song 'Hollow Trees House Hounds'. Rhys promises to crease out more multi media chaos out of the mangle of his new ironing label.
THE DRUMS 'Summertime EP' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
Taking the unlikely templates of 50s surf-rock and Factory Records as inspiration and mixing in a new wave sound, brand new four piece The Drums announce themselves as purveyors of some of the most exciting new sounds to come out of the US this year. As the saturation point of female-fronted electronic acts has surely been reached in the UK, The Drums arrive with a brand new sound. 'Summertime!' is the band's brilliant debut mini-album, due for release on October 12th through Moshi Moshi Records (the label responsible for launching Hot Chip, Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Kate Nash and Late of the Pier amongst others). The 7-track CD will be preceded by debut single 'Let's Go Surfing' - the mini album's opening track - out on Sept 28th. Across all of it's seven tracks, 'Summertime!' heralds the arrival of a major new talent: songs like 'Don't Be A Jerk, Johnny' and 'Submarine' showcase The Drums' updated take on 50s surf rock and pop, whilst 'Down By The Water' is a beautiful lingering ballad that wouldn't sound amiss on the Twin Peaks soundtrack. First single 'Let's Go Surfing' opens with the most infectious whistling line since Peter, Bjorn and John accompanied by buzz-saw surf guitar riffs, and would be the closest song to pop perfection on this set if were not for the mini-album's closing gem, 'I Felt Stupid'. Singer Jonathan Pierce and guitarist Jacob Graham met each other at summer camp when they were children and have been best friends ever since [apart from one particular argument that lasted five years]. Though individually they've both enjoyed diverse and successful musical pursuits [Jon of former Columbia act Elkland, Jacob playing with various punk acts around his home state of Florida] the formation of The Drums marks the first time the long time friends have formally collaborated. Rounding out the Drums lineup are drummer and NYC native Connor Hanwick and guitarist Adam Kessler, whose musical history includes playing guitar in Pierce's former band Elkland. Originally formed in Florida, The Drums are now based in New York City and are currently hard at work on their first LP.
PORT O'BRIEN 'Threadbare' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
**This is the vinyl edition to accompany the full album**
Port O'Brien release their new album 'Threadbare' on 12 October 2009. The band's debut proper 'All We Could Was Sing' was released to an ecstatic reception last year, with critics and fans alike swept away by their tales of the sea and music filled with joyous abandon. But just as some of our favourite albums are informed by delirium and youthful adventure, others are informed by tragedy and depths of heartache. This is the odd juxtaposition for Port O'Brien's second album. Where the band's stomping debut 'All We Could Do Was Sing' was full of ragged chants and life affirming lyrics, 'Threadbare' is, as the name suggests, a much more contemplative and introspective affair yet still filled with all-encompassing, emotionally charged anthems that Port O'Brien have become known for.

THE VERONICAS 'Hook Me Up' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
The Veronicas' 'Untouched' has proved to be an enduring summertime hit. Debuting at #8, the single spent five weeks in the Top 10 and a further three in the Top 20. Now The Veronicas release the follow-up '4 Ever' on September 27th on Warner Bros. Records. It precedes the October 12th release of their new album 'Hook Me Up'. Already the biggest name in new Australian pop and now based in Los Angeles, The Veronicas are proving to be a global phenomenon. 'Hook Me Up' and the debut album 'The Secret Life Of...' both hit #2 on the Australian album charts and reached multi-Platinum status in the process and they've proved to be similarly successful in the singles charts with a #1 single and a further four Top 5 hits to their name.
THE FLAMING LIPS 'Embryonic' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
'Embryonic' is the latest instalment in The Flaming Lips strange and compelling journey. The eagerly anticipated album released on October 12th on Warner Bros Records sees the Oklahoma natives continue in the same vein that has bagged them three Grammys, a Brit Award nomination and being described as one of the great inventive acts in rock. Recorded in New York and Oklahoma City between February and July of this year, 'Embryonic' features eighteen new songs. The sound is immediately recognisable as The Flaming Lips, but once more they push the boundaries of sound into uncharted new territory. 'Embryonic' was produced by The Flaming Lips - Wayne Coyne, Stephen Drozd, Michael Ivins and Kliph Scurlock - with Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev) and Scott Booker. 'Embryonic' highlights a number of special guest appearances: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O provides additional singing, screaming, animal sounds and noises on 'Gemini Syringes', 'I Can Be A Frog' and 'Watching The Planets', MGMT contribute additional playing and singing to 'Worm Mountain' and German mathematician, Thorsten Wörmann is responsible for additional spoken announcements.
DEAD BY SUNRISE 'Out Of Ashes' [Release Date 12/10/2009]
Chester Bennington is stepping outside (but not away) from Linkin Park. His side project Dead By Sunrise has seen him reinvent himself. 'Out Of Ashes' is the first album from this new project, bringing in Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh, formerly of Orgy and current Julien-K members, Brandon Belsky, Elias Andra, and Anthony 'FU' Valcic - Bennington gives fans a revealing look at the man behind the voice. Throughout the 12-song collection, DBS move skilfully between the kind of explosive rockers Bennington is known for, such as the opening 'Fire' and the frenetic energy of 'My Suffering', and some surprisingly tender moments, like the beautifully melodic, mid-tempo 'Let Down' and the rhythmically hypnotic 'Walking In Circles'. The Dead By Sunrise album is one that has summed up the past few years of Chester Bennington's life dealing with divorce, re-marriage and addiction. 'I feel a real sense of achievement', he says of Dead by Sunrise. 'Because something original, meaningful, and viable has sprouted out of this experience. And it's not just a side project. I feel like I've created a band with a new sound. That is a huge accomplishment and I'm really proud of it".
