SAINT ETIENNE Songs For The Dog And Duck [Released 26th October 2009]
CD: Ace Records are proud to announce a new compilation curated by Saint Etienne, the British group led by songwriters Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs and fronted by vocalist Sarah Cracknell. This compilation, the second in a series (the first was Songs for Marios Cafreleased back in 2004) is one of the most eclectic compilations to appear on Ace in recent years. The compilation is a tribute to the Soho pubs that have proved fertile ground for musicians, publishers and general pop-obsessed layabouts. The Dog & Duck specifically was the pub of choice for the Heavenly label, an annexe of the office on Frith Street. When they moved out of Soho this spring they left Soho with a single record company HQ. This is is a soundtrack for a session in the Dog & Duck (or the Blue Posts, or the Ship), a jukebox selection to reflect the characters and conversations taking place a stones throw from Denmark Street, the 2 I's, and the 100 Club; totemic locations in British pop history.
FUNKADELIC Standing On The Verge: Best Of [Released 26th October 2009]
CD I 2-LP: Over a period of 12 years from their Westbound debut album to the release of 1981s The Electric Spanking Of War Babies, Funkadelic, piloted by George Clinton, redefined the way that black music was recorded and presented. They scored 20 R&B chart hit singles and a dozen chart albums, but their influence was far greater. They brought rock music into the black music charts and demanded to be treated like a rock band and in the years following their demise they have become treated as musical greats, by the sampling hip hop hordes and by the rock music establishment. Standing On The Verge includes the two number one R&B singles One Nation Under A Groove and (Not Just) Knee Deep, sample favourites such as Ill Bet You and Undisco Kidd and dancefloor monsters such as Cosmic Slop and Better By The Pound. We have also taken the time to shine a light on more contemplative masterpieces such as Sexy Ways, the wonderful instrumental A Joyful Process, and the incredible ten minute-plus epic Maggot Brain. Their early 1969 single Whatever Makes My Baby Feels Good is included - the first time it has ever been reissued.
JACKIE DE SHANNON You Won't Forget Me [Released 26th October 2009]
CD: • Spanning the years 1960-1963, You Wont Forget Me comprises the A- and B-sides of Jackie DeShannon's first dozen Liberty 45s, all presented in their glorious original mono mixes. Highlights include Jackies stunning original versions of Needles And Pins and When You Walk In The Room, both of which were successfully covered by the Searchers, helping spark the folk-rock movement. • Working with producers and arrangers of the calibre of Snuff Garrett, Clyde Otis, Dick Glasser and Jack Nitzsche, she recorded in a variety of other styles that ranged from folk (500 Miles) and R&B (Ill Drown In My Own Tears) to country (Faded Love) and gospel (Oh, Sweet Chariot), but the stand-out songs are those Jackie penned herself, frequently with co-writer Sharon Sheeley.

The film was critically acclaimed at the following years Cannes Film Festival.
