'Cause I Sez So' CD - 468116 Release Date 04/05/09
http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=468116
The Iconic band reunite with former producer Todd Rundgren for their fourth studio album 'Cause I Sez So'. The album includes 11 original compositions and a new version of 'Trash' from their 1973 debut album. The New York Dolls - David Johansen (vocals); Sylvain Sylvain (guitar); Steve Conte (guitar); Brian Delaney (drums); and Sami Yaffa (bass) appeared at the South By Southwest (SXSW) music conference. The New York Dolls swaggered onto the New York music scene in the early 70's, influencing a generation with their subversive mix of high-decibel rock and high-heeled androgyny. The original band recorded a pair of milestone records - New York Dolls (1973) and Too Much Too Soon (1974) - before breaking up in 1977. The surviving members reformed the group in 2004 to much acclaim, but soon lost bassist Arthur Kane to leukaemia. Two years later, Johansen and Sylvain reunited again to record the New York Dolls' third studio album, 'One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This'.
MADINA LAKE
'Attics To Eden' CD - 468117 Release Date 04/05/09
http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=468117
For Chicago's Madina Lake, working with esteemed producer David Bendeth [Paramore] on the eagerly-anticipated 'Attics To Eden', the explosive follow-up to their 2007 debut 'From Them, Through Us, To You', was an honour. By the end of it, Madina Lake had created a monstrous collection of impassioned and infectious tunes harnessing the wealth of experience gained from touring with the likes of All American Rejects, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy, and Muse. A collection of influences that has resulted in immense growth and a deriving sound that is 100% Madina Lake. The 12 songs on the album - including 'Never Take Us Alive', 'Welcome To Oblivion' and the guitar-less 'Friends And Lovers' - are replete with otherworldly atmospherics, epic guitars, intricate and often punishing drum-work, melodic choruses, imposing bass lines, audacious instrumentation, and Nathan's unpredictable, inescapable vocals. The first single from the new album 'Never Take Us Alive' will be released a week prior to the album (20th April). And will be picking up from where 'One Last Kiss' from their debut album finished off.
TYPE O NEGATIVE
'Bloody Kisses' 2CD - 468119 Release Date 04/05/09
http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=468119
After burying Brooklyn under the dense power-dirge cacophony of 1991's 'Slow Deep And Hard' and then recording most of the album over again as a fake live set for 1992's 'The Origin Of The Feces', Type O Negative decided to get almost serious. Or at least as almost-serious as Type O could ever be expected to get. As such, Steele (who was still working for the NYC Parks Department), guitarist Kenny Hickey, drummer Sal Abruscato and producer/keyboardist Josh Silver descended upon Systems Two in Brooklyn to record the album that would propel them into the bright lights and big titties of international rock stardom. Originally released on August 17th, 1993, at the tail end of New York City Mayor David Dinkins' "gorgeous mosaic" of race riots and unemployment, 'Bloody Kisses' offered both a response to the controversy that had enveloped Type O's debut and an enhanced pop sensibility. Born in Alphabet City's long-gone goth clubs, the 73-minute opus featured infectious doom-pop epics ['Black No 1', 'Christian Woman'], sarcastic hardcore screeds ['Kill All The White People', 'We Hate Everyone'], bizarre noise interludes ['Fay Wray Come Out And Play', 'Dark Side Of The Womb', '3.0.I.F.'] and a cover of Seals & Crofts' 'Summer Breeze' that somehow managed to be both lush and beefy. The album went Gold on the strength of 'Christian Woman' and 'Black No 1' - not to mention Steele's fully erect appearance in (and on) the August 1995 issue of Playgirl magazine. By the time his well-publicised boner presumably receded, Type O had a certified Platinum record on their hands. Sandwiched between a photo of two green lesbians in the throes of simulated passion and that unforgettable slogan/warning, 'Don't mistake lack of talent for genius', 'Bloody Kisses' remains the diamond in Type O's extensive back catalogue and one of the most elaborate revenge records of all time. Listening to the album more than 15 years on, it's easy to hear how it is often regarded as the birthplace of Gothic Metal, influencing everyone from HIM to Within Temptation. This re-issue comes housed in a lush digipack with in-depth liner notes featuring new interviews with all 4 band members and a mouth-watering 8 rare bonus tracks (including the endlessly painful epic 'Suspended In Dusk') - the complete collector's piece.

In the following two decades, Derringer was the featured sideman for both the Winter Brothers, Johnny and Edgar, plus a very successful solo artist ('Rock & Roll Hootchie Koo'). Two more blues oriented releases followed in the 90's, 'Electra Blues' and 'Blues Deluxe'. Derringer's next blues offering, was the highly touted 'Jackhammer Blues' which stayed true to the tradition, running the gamut from grinding blues to steaming shuffles. Derringer's latest blues offering 'Knighted By The Blues' follows in the tradition of this renowned guitarists greatest recordings and further showcases his intensity and prowess on the guitar that digs deep into Derringer's roots. 'Knighted By The Blues' is Derringer's first blues record in over a decade to feature predominately Derringer's original blues oriented compositions. PAT METHENY
'One Quiet Night' CD Release Date 04/05/09
http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=468131
Pat Metheny's 'One Quiet Night', originally released in 2003, is the guitarist's most simply executed and highly personal set. The night in question was November 24, 2001; the location was the home studio in Metheny's apartment. Metheny began to play around with a new baritone guitar he had just acquired, exploring what he has described as an unusual "low Nashville tuning". As he told Downbeat at the time, "I wasn't thinking about anything other than the sound of one note leading me to the next. It was all about discovery. It's about those moments when you're hearing something yourself for the first time. That I had my wits about me to push record and document this experiment was a serendipitous occurrence". Metheny fans agreed, and it became one of his fastest selling - and most critically hailed - CDs. The Boston Globe called it "a spare, almost reverent session of man and guitar". Downbeat noted, "An earphone listen reveals the spiritual-like ruminations as well as a relaxed and chiming sense of unadorned, heartfelt beauty". Billboard declared, "The individual pieces are as compelling as anything in the guitarist's catalogue". That one evening led to a year of rumination: Metheny took the recorded results of his solitary, wee-small-hours session with him as he toured with the Pat Metheny Group, and he began to see the shape of an album in his musings. In late 2002, his touring over, Metheny decided to cut a few more tracks in the same intuitive, homemade fashion - no overdubs, no other instruments - to complete the disc. He covered a pair of his favourite tunes, Keith Jarrett's 'My Song' and Gerry and the Pacemakers' British Invasion hit 'Ferry Across the Mersey', as well as Jesse Harris's 'Don't Know Why', which Norah Jones had just made famous. This reissued edition also features a bonus track, 'In All We See', previously unreleased in the UK on CD. Metheny's performance remains as heartfelt as it is impromptu; a private, contemplative moment has been transformed into a timeless work.
