To celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut album A Bit Of What You Fancy, The Quireboys will play the album in full – from start to finish – on eight dates across the UK this December. To add to the nostalgia, support comes from the original line-up of Wolfsbane, who were the opening act on the very first A Bit Of What You Fancy tour.
A Bit Of What You Fancy was recorded in Los Angeles, in 1989, under the production of former Rod Stewart guitarist Jim Cregan. It was an immediate success, entering the UK album charts at No.2 in February 1990.
In support of the album The Quireboys toured relentlessly around the world. In America they played with LA Guns, Soundgarden, The Cramps and Iggy Pop.
In the UK, key gigs included a support slot for the Rolling Stones at St James’ Park in Newcastle and then, two months later, they played in front of 72,000 people at Monsters Of Rock with Aerosmith.
They also had the prestigious job of opening up for Guns ‘N’ Roses on their first ever UK tour.
The current Quireboys line-up includes original front man Spike Gray and guitarist Guy Griffin together with Paul Guerin (guitar), Jimi Jimmi (bass), Keith Weir (keyboards) and Phil Martini (drums).
