Guns N Roses Tour "Coming Soon"

Guns N Roses tour dates are looking likely, according to their guitarist.

Blabbermouth reports that guitarist Richard Fortus, speaking to St Louis radio station KDHX 88.1 FM, said that rehearsals were underway and that a world tour was looking possible.

“I've been in rehearsals with GUNS for the last little bit here — focusing more on that world right now. . . We, hopefully, will be announcing dates soon, I hope,” he said.

“I don't know of any dates in the U.S. yet; I haven't heard any talk. I'm sure that we will . . . Right now that's not where the focus is; I know that we're gonna be probably announcing other dates first.”

Pearl Jam Make Rare UK Dates

Pearl Jam will play two dates in the UK this August as part of a mini-European tour.

The band will play in Manchester and London in August as part of a four date European tour, which should be in support of their forthcoming new album.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday 8 May at 9am from the Planet Rock Ticket Shop.

Marmaduke Duke, the self-created surreal musical world of enigmatic Scottish duo The Atmosphere and The Dragon, two frontmen better known as Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro and JP Reid of Sucioperro. 'Duke Pandemonium' follows on from the release of single 'Kid Gloves' in March and the hit 'Rubber Lover' on 20th April and is part two of a mythological musical album trilogy, performed and produced by The Atmosphere and The Dragon in 24 hours, and mixed by Rich Costey [Muse, Mars Volta, Bloc Party]. The 16th Century Duke, inspired by a trilogy of unfinished books written by a Portuguese man befriended by the Scottish duo, is perceived by The Atmosphere and The Dragon - the Duke's henchmen - as a wandering soul, a personification of man's most primitive and often under-explored impulses, and 'Duke Pandemonium' is the Duke's vision of a hedonistic and aberrant disco-party. In the debut album 'The Magnificent Duke', The Duke charted his slow descent into psychosis as represented by three differing musical suites - larynx-shredding rock, head-mashing ambient and heart-melting acoustic. In 'Duke Pandemonium', we see a change in the duke: The Duke is back and is ready for a party fuelled with decadence, deviance and dancing. Don Bernstine Dies At Age 53

Over at Classic Rock they have reported the sad news of the death of Don Bernstine, the legendary Hard Rock Café artist relations man.

Bernstine contributed guest blogs to Classic Rock before his untimely demise on Sunday, April 19. To read Bernstine’s past blogs, go here and here.

Radio and record veteran Bernstine worked for Hard Rock International for six years. He found the rock’n'roll memorabilia which can be seen in the Hard Rock Cafés worldwide.

I had dealings with Don on a couple of occasions andI always found him very friendly and amazingly passionate about what he did. He will be sadly missed and a massive loss to the Hard Rock Cafe.

The Iconic band reunite with former producer Todd Rundgren for their fourth studio album 'Cause I Sez So'. The album includes 11 original compositions and a new version of 'Trash' from their 1973 debut album. The New York Dolls - David Johansen (vocals); Sylvain Sylvain (guitar); Steve Conte (guitar); Brian Delaney (drums); and Sami Yaffa (bass) appeared at the South By Southwest (SXSW) music conference. The New York Dolls swaggered onto the New York music scene in the early 70's, influencing a generation with their subversive mix of high-decibel rock and high-heeled androgyny. The original band recorded a pair of milestone records - New York Dolls (1973) and Too Much Too Soon (1974) - before breaking up in 1977. The surviving members reformed the group in 2004 to much acclaim, but soon lost bassist Arthur Kane to leukaemia. Two years later, Johansen and Sylvain reunited again to record the New York Dolls' third studio album, 'One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This'.

Iron Maiden: New Album & Tour In 2010

Iron Maiden will hit the studio to record a brand new album in 2010 before heading out on the road once more later that year.

Speaking to Planet Rock’s Rob Birnie for an interview that’s due to air in a couple of weeks, Nicko McBrain says that the band will be having a rest following their 18 month trek around the world on their Somewhere Back In Time Tour but will reconvene later in the year.

“We’re gonna take the rest of this year off. We’re gonna write in November/December and then go to record the new album in January next year,” Nicko told Rob.

“After we finish the album we’ll more than likely go out on tour, I should imagine. Whether we go out sooner or later we don’t know. But the way we look at it is once you’ve made your album you don’t want to sit on it too long because you forget the stuff that you’ve recorded! Well I do anyway… You wanna go out and hit it while it’s hot so probably autumn time next year, maybe a little later.”

The new album will be the follow up to 2006’s A Matter Of Life And Death.

Rob’s interview with Nicko will air on planetrock 3 May from 8pm.

John Foxx & Robin Guthrie's collaboration was an idea that began when the pair performed at a Harold Budd concert in May 2005. Layers of echoes and reverberations are explored on 'Mirrorball', so that Guthrie's unique playing merges with abstract, often improvised vocals courtesy of Foxx.
