Bob Dylan's new studio album will be released on April 27th in the UK. Together Though Life, produced by Jack Frost, was recorded late last year, prompted by the composition of a new song, "Life Is Hard," which was written for a forthcoming film by French director Oliver Dahan (La Vie En Rose) The new album will be the 46th release from Bob Dylan, and follows 2006's Platinum album Modern Times, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and reached the top of the charts in seven additional countries and the Top 5 in 22 countries around the world. Bob Dylan's three previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist.
The Platinum-selling Time Out Of Mind from 1997 earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, while "Love and Theft" continued Dylan's Platinum streak and earned several Grammy nominations and a statue for Best 1. Standard version, in jewel case with 4-panel booklet 2. Deluxe version, in slipcase, containing:
* Standard album in jewel case * DVD in slip sleeve, featuring an interview with Dylan's first manager Roy Silver, which was taped for the 'No Direction Home' documentary but didn't make the final cut. Included in the interview is the original demo (audio only) of "Blowin' In The Wind".
* CD in slip sleeve featuring the 'Friends and Neighbors' episode of Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour. For those of you not familiar with these radio shows, they feature Dylan as DJ, talking and playing a wildly eclectic selection of songs.
* Sticker and poster featuring the album cover image 3. 2LP, pressed on 180 gram vinyl and including the album on CD, as an insert. We will be manufacturing the vinyl in both the US and Europe.

Manic Street Preachers - Journal For Plague Lovers

http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=465920
All 13 songs on the new record feature lyrics left to us by Richey. The brilliance and intelligence of the lyrics dictated that we had to finally use them.
The use of language is stunning and topics include The Grande Odalisque by Ingres, Marlon Brando, Giant Haystacks, celebrity, consumerism and dysmorphia, all reiterating the genius and intellect of Richard James Edwards. The record is scheduled for release on 18th May and will be available on CD, deluxe 2 CD, download and LP.
An original piece of Jenny Saville's art is the cover for Journal for Plague Lovers, one of her paintings also graced the cover of 1994's The Holy Bible.

Rumours are circulating of a Stone Roses reunion this Summer withvenues having already been booked for a 21 date jaunt around the UK.
Having heard this one so many times in the past,I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. I don't personally give a monkeys one way or another but I know it would generate some interest round these parts.
In the meantime feast your eyes on this beauty.

The Who
It was an astonishingly bold concept by the producer Lou Reizner to present the Who's rock opera 'Tommy' as a dramatised, all-star extravaganza. Originally released as a double LP in a slipcase with lavish, illustrations, this was the first ever 'coffee table' album. And it proved a huge best seller when first released in 1971 and helped on its way by the hit single version of 'Pinball Wizard', sung with gusto by Rod Stewart on the album. Among the other guest performers accompanied by the mighty orchestra and choir are Pete Townshend, Sandy Denny, Richie Havens, Stevie Winwood, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Maggie Bell, Ringo Starr and even movie actor Richard Harris. This important CD re-issue serves not only as a tribute to the genius of the Who and composer Townshend, but as a memorial to Lou Reizner, a pioneer of multi-media projects, who died aged just 43 in 1977. A real collector's item, this brings back golden memories of rock's boldest, brashest era.

Quite possibly the most prolific and consistently great British independent label, the history of Rough Trade made absorbing viewing on BBC4 last weekend. In case you missed the documentary and performance clips on television (those old things?), with thanks to the BBC and their iPlayer gadget, you can now watch online. Rejoice! Posted by Richard II

U2 say that they plan to rewrite and rerecord some of their early material from albums such as Boy.
BBC reports that at a tiny concert in Massachusetts on Wednesday Bono told the audience that “I would love to sing that album again and finish that. The early records, there's some beautiful songs that feel a little bit unfinished to us.”
The Edge went on to tell MTV that “There are so many U2 songs that I am quite happy not to play. We still want to rewrite some of them, and who knows we may at some point re-release a few of our early albums with a few changes.”
Meanwhile the band’s latest album shot straight to the top in the US album charts, selling 484,000 copies in its first week.

Paul texted the Chris Moyles Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning with the following message...
Hi -It's Paul McCartney here. I'm just driving home from the school run. I've just been flagged down by a lady in a Comic Relief t-shirt which I promptly signed for her! I'm also wearing one of the Red Nose Day t-shirts designed by my daughter Stella, with a photo taken by her mum Linda of me and my Beatle buddies featured on the front.
By the way Chris, congratulations on Kylie Manjaro! Keep up the good work. Well done our team.
All the best and cheers,
Paul

Song
http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=464310
Its Immaterials second album Song was released in 1990, the music was of a subdued, understated nature, with wry wit in the manner of an indie Pet Shop Boys. The album received positive reviews in the music press but failed to capture the imagination of the public and the band soon split afterwards. This reissue contains the B-sides of the Heaven Knows single as well as comperhensive notes by Malcolm Dome and enhanced artwork featuring lyrics and rare photos. * Notes by Classic Rocks Malcolm Dome * Two Bonus Tracks * Enhanced artwork

Chris Cornell
http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=464185
It's not often that two legends in music get together to record a full album, and even rarer that they're from completely opposite ends of the musical spectrum. Ex-Soundgarden/Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell has teamed up with hip hop and pop super-producer Timbaland to create an extraordinary new album entitled 'Scream' which will be released on 23 March. The first single from the record will be 'Part Of Me' released on 9 March. All the songs on 'Scream' which were written by Chris Cornell and produced by Timbaland make up an album that was inspired partly by Pink Floyd's all-time classic album 'The Wall'. All 13 of the songs on 'Scream' flow into each other giving it the feel of one complete work with no breaks, drawing on both artists talents to re-write the modern musical rulebook.

You'd expect rock stars to collect expensive and luxurious items, some even peculiar, be it Slash and his pet snakes, Marilyn Manson and his love of prosthetic limbs or Lemmy and his Nazi-memorabilia-cum-Kinda-Surprise-toys. Just last week it was reported that Phil Collins has amassed hundreds of cannonballs, documents and other artefacts from the Alamo, stashing them in the basement of his home in Switzerland. It is said his new found passion is so great he has ditched the singing altogether. Will the last days of his musical career be remembered then for that Cadbury's Dairy Milk advert? What with its literal 'bringing a tired old beast (on a drum kit) back to life' representation, a cynical marketing ploy no less to make you buy chocolate and a re-released In The Air Tonight? We'd never do that. Still, consuming records and chocolate... now that's a hobby Posted by Rich (II)
