You know when your becoming your parents when you start saying 'all modern music sounds the same'. When you've made the music that the new 'old skool' are harking back to then perhaps it isn't such a flippant remark - to add insult to injury, Madonna is now (jokingly) claiming a writing credit on one of Gaga's top favourites! The NME reports below:
"Madonna has aimed another jibe at Lady Gaga over the similarities between 'Express Yourself' and 'Born This Way'.
Earlier this year (2012), Madonna called Gaga's song "reductive" and claimed that "it felt familiar" when she first heard it. Now, in a new interview with a Brazilian TV Show, she has made a joke about the track's songwriting credits. "I'm a really big fan of ['Born This Way']. I'm glad that I helped GaGa write it," she said.
Madonna has also mocked the similarity between the two songs on her current tour, in which she performs a mash-up of 'Express Yourself' and 'Born This Way' followed by a pointed snippet of a track called 'She's Not Me'"
Is it coincidental or should Madge take this as flattery; When you're such a hugely influential artist, isn't it to be expected? Read the full article on the NME site.
