The story of late singer Jeff Buckley who tragically drowned on May 29, 1997 and graced the world with just 2 beautifully crafted albums has been waiting in the wings to hit the big screen for some time, with Buckley's Mother and executive producer finally seeing her plans for what promises to be an epic account at last coming to light. So, with news earlier this spring that the film was finally confirmed to be coming to fruition with director Jake Scott (son of Ridley) on board [who has previous videos for U2, R.E.M, Soundgarden and Oasis on his CV] eager up-and-coming actors were understandably keen to get ahead in the audition queue including the likes of Twilight superstar Robert Pattinson.
Pattinson's dreams of playing the star have been dashed however as the role has just been confirmed this week as going to Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley who recently beat Pattinson to the post! Let's hope the actor can either sing (or mime!?) extremely well to do justice to one of popular music's greatest ever male vocalists!
