Mosaic's reputation for high quality product places them right at the forefront of the jazz reissue market. The independent label was set up by Micheal Cuscuna in the eighties, whose part in the CD mastering of Blue Note albums in the early 90s is greatly regarded.
What makes Mosaic box sets so special is their dedication to collecting every last recorded take of a particular date, with the utmost attention to sound quality, restoration and packaging. You have to hand it to Cuscuna for his dedication! With leading authorities commissioned to write the booklets, previously unseen photographs enclosed and picture covers in ever so cool monochrome, these are exhaustive tomes to say the least, and essential for the avid jazz collector. Both the CD and vinyl packages are investment items, as all recordings were leased for a set number of units and sale length.
We have managed to acquire a choice selection of long deleted Mosaic CD sets. These cover the works of Count Basie, Buck Clayton, Gerry Mulligan, Woody Herman, Eddie Condon, Gene Krupa & Harry James, each one out of print and no longer available brand new. All are in superb condition
